June 13th, 4:30pm-6:30pm (doors open at 4pm), at Beach United Church in Toronto (140 Wineva Ave)
The Lev Swims Lakes team will be hosting a screening of the marathon swim documentary The Impossible Swim (2018), followed by a panel with marathon swimmers Maya Farrell and Lev Goldberg, as well as one of the directors of the film Larry Weinstein. Proceeds from this event will go towards the fundraiser for Lev’s 55km Lake Huron crossing in August 2026, raising money for LGBT Youthline.
This inspiring film tells the story of 16-year-old swimmer Maya Farrell’s quest to swim across Lake Ontario at its widest part, with support from her family and legendary marathon swimmers Marilyn Bell and Vicki Keith. This heartwarming film is about the courage it takes to chase big goals, and the strength that comes from those who believe in us.
Please join us to enjoy the film, followed by a panel with the subject of the documentary herself Maya Farrell, director Larry Weinstein, and marathon swimmer (and first openly trans person to swim across Lake Ontario) Lev Goldberg.
Tickets are $20, please register on Eventbrite; if seats are available, $25 cash for entry at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase with cash. The venue is fully accessible. For PWYC registration, please email lev.swims.lakes@gmail.com.
